Pole dancing has left its dubious origins well behind to emerge
as a sensual but highly energetic dance-form requiring athleticism,
flexibility, co-ordination and endurance.
An accomplished pole dancer can give the illusion of effortless
elegance in a demanding routine during which they might support
their entire body weight with the aid of a knee and the forces
of momentum, or perform a gravity-defying inverted plunge before
flipping like a gymnast into the vertical splits. All at 15 feet
on a narrow tube of chrome, while keeping their audience fully
engaged of course!
Luckily, beginner level pole dancing is a skill which is easily
mastered with practise, and it is this sense of achievement, combined
with its body-toning effects and means of self-expression, which
makes it incredibly popular with contemporary women today.
